The Kerala government will review the Covid-19 situation in the state on Monday. The meeting will be presided over by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. While relaxations are unlikely, more restrictions are likely to be imposed in some districts.
On Sunday, the state reported 51,570 new cases with a test positivity rate of 50 per cent. The daily tally has been around 50,000 for the past week, which in itself is alarming.
The number of active patients in the state is 3,54,595. Among them, only 3.4 per cent are admitted to various hospitals. The districts may see some reclassification and shuffling based on the current case rate. As of now, Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Kollam are under Category C, where severe restrictions are imposed. (With inputs from Rickson)
