A New Jersey woman that sold about 250 phony vaccination cards through her Instagram account was taken to prison after she tried to recant her earlier guilty plea, according to a report from the New York Daily News.
Jasmine Clifford, 34, of Lyndhurst and known as “AntiVaxMomma” on social media, was taken out of a Manhattan court room in handcuffs on July 25 after failing to convince a New York judge that she was confused about the purpose of the sentencing hearing and pointed to Instagram posts she made referencing her earlier guilty plea, the Daily News reported.
Clifford had previously pleaded guilty to offering a false instrument for filing and conspiracy after prosecutors accused her of selling at least 250 forged COVID-19 vaccination cards for $200 a piece. Authorities alleged she sold at least 13 fraudulent cards to essential workers, including hospital, nursing home and school staff.
