WHO Clarifies Comments on Asymptomatic Spread

After a statement about pre- and asymptomatic spread of coronavirus saw widespread posting across the internet without context, the WHO found it necessary to issue a clarification stating that they were making a commentary about the ratio of pre- vs truly asymptomatic transmission, and that much of the new cases they observed came from people with very light symptoms, as opposed to none at all:

In this case, sites across the internet proclaimed “Asymptomatic transmission rare!” without explaining the difference between a and pre-symptomatic, or noting that something certainly is driving cases regardless of the exact method of transmission:

Hospitalizations increased by 35 patients over Monday, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services. Seven-day rolling averages for hospitalizations are increasing.

A month after reopening, Florida records more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for the sixth time in 7 days

Florida has seen a rise in COVID-19 cases during the last week, just a month after the state officially began reopening. On Tuesday, the state reported 1,096 new confirmed cases of coronavirus. With the exception of 966 new cases on Monday, Florida has seen new daily cases surpass 1,000 cases six times in the past seven days.
